Following a series of new contract wins in Southbend and across Indiana, they are seeking a Fiber Optic Splicing Technician to join their expanding team and help ensure the continued reliability and performance of their network infrastructure.

In this vital role, you will be responsible for splicing a variety of fiber optic cables, diagnosing and resolving technical faults and carrying out regular maintenance activities. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual looking to take on a rewarding and hands-on position within the telecommunications sector.

This project alone requires at least 1 million individual splices, so if you think you have what it takes apply today.


Responsibilities:

  • Splice various types and sizes of fiber optic cable, including single mode, multimode, stranded, and ribbon
  • Perform high-count ribbon fiber splicing 288 / 432, 864, and above
  • Conduct testing using: OTDR / OLTS / Power meter
  • Analyze and troubleshoot basic technical problems or issues related to fiber optic infrastructure
  • Review, interpret, and work with various maps, drawings, blueprints, and testing documents
  • Perform daily tests, checks, and maintenance of splicing and testing equipment
  • Conduct optical continuity and conformance testing to ensure network integrity

Skills/Must have:

  • Working knowledge of various fusion splicing and optical testing equipment
  • Familiarity with fiber optic cable types, color codes, and environments (e.g., Multi-mode, Single-mode, CAT 3, CAT 5, Riser, Plenum)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others
  • Perform high-count ribbon fiber splicing 288 / 432, 864, and above
