Responsibilities:

  • Structured Cabling & PON: Create detailed blueprints for fiber and copper (Cat5, Cat6, OM4) and design Passive Optical Networks (PON) using unpowered splitters.
  • Infrastructure Optimization: Plan the layout of communication rooms and data center cable management to maximize space and organization.
  • Heavy-Weight Documentation: Manage complex patch schedules in Excel, create as-built drawings, and prepare technical submittals and hardware data sheets.
  • Signal Budgeting: Calculate signal attenuation to ensure adequate power reaches every endpoint across massive vertical distances.
  • Cross-Team Coordination: Partner with site teams to assess environments and work with architects to determine switch stack requirements based on endpoint counts.


Must haves/nice to haves:

  • Technical Baseline: A strong understanding of cable runs, layer 1 infrastructure, and cabinet design.
  • Knowledge: Basic networking knowledge (CCNA level) is expected.
  • Organizational Excellence: You must be comfortable with the administrative side of design, managing a high volume of data sheets and floor plans.
  • Mindset: A self-starter who finds satisfaction in the details and is eager to learn.
  • Nice to have: A background as a field-based Network Engineer looking for an office-based design role.
