Key Responsibilities:
- Engineering Leadership:
- Lead and develop a team of optical and transport engineers across project and support functions
- Oversee translation of High-Level Designs into detailed Low-Level Designs and full implementation documentation
- Ensure all engineering outputs align with scope, contractual requirements, and internal quality standards
- Govern the production of detailed design documentation including network design documents, DCN architecture, synchronisation design, and link engineering diagrams
- Drive capacity planning and long-term network scalability initiatives
- Project Delivery & Deployment Oversight:
- Oversee technical execution of optical transport and DWDM deployments
- Provide leadership across installation, integration, commissioning, and acceptance testing phases
- Support complex link turn-up, service activation, and live production network integration
- Act as senior technical escalation point during deployment and testing activities
- Operational & Support Management:
- Lead post-deployment support engineering activities across live carrier-grade networks
- Ensure strong troubleshooting capability across the optical layer
- Drive incident resolution, service stability, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure seamless handover from project delivery into operational support
- Customer & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Act as senior engineering interface for customer technical stakeholders
- Partner closely with Project Management, Systems Engineering, and Field Services teams
- Provide technical reporting, risk management updates, and executive-level summaries
- Support large-scale transport and submarine network programs where required
- Governance & Quality Assurance:
- Enforce engineering standards, documentation quality, and change control processes
- Identify technical risks and implement mitigation strategies
- Mentor senior engineers and build internal technical capability
- Drive engineering best practice across optical and transport network domains
Required Experience:
- Extensive experience within optical transport network engineering environments
- Strong expertise in DWDM, OTN, DCI, and long-haul and metro transmission systems
- Demonstrated experience managing engineering teams across both project delivery and operational support
- Proven experience integrating and commissioning transport networks in live production environments
- Strong understanding of carrier-grade network infrastructure
- Working knowledge of Linux or Unix environments
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
