Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Support:
- Provide day-to-day support across a live optical transport network
- Troubleshoot and resolve optical layer and DWDM-related faults
- Conduct proactive health checks and performance analysis
- Support incident response and root cause investigations
- Project & Change Implementation:
- Deliver network augmentations including wavelength turn-ups, card installs, and capacity upgrades
- Prepare, peer review, and execute EMOPs (Engineering Method of Procedure)
- Implement software upgrades and lifecycle activities
- Support controlled change windows within production environments
- Planning & Governance:
- Assist with capacity planning and network growth
- Maintain detailed documentation, network diagrams, and implementation records
- Ensure adherence to strict change management and operational standards
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate closely with customer NOC, operations, and engineering teams
- Interface with internal TAC and escalation teams for complex issues
- Provide implementation updates and technical reporting to stakeholders
Required Experience:
- 6–10+ years’ experience in optical, transport, or carrier-grade networking
- Strong hands-on experience with Ciena DWDM platforms
- Solid understanding of DWDM, ROADM, OTN, optical transmission principles, and fibre infrastructure
- Experience working within live production or service provider networks
- Proven experience preparing and executing EMOPs
- Strong change control discipline and documentation standards
- Advanced troubleshooting capability across the optical layer
