This is a 6 month contract opportunity for a Microsoft Purview DLP Consultant, outside IR35 and fully remote. The role focuses on designing and implementing data loss prevention strategies, working closely with security and compliance teams to define classification, labelling, and encryption policies. Combining technical delivery with advisory input, ensure DLP controls are effective, compliant, and aligned with user workflows while minimising disruption.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage Microsoft Purview DLP policies across M365 (Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Endpoint)
- Define and deploy data classification and sensitivity labelling strategies, including encryption and protection via Microsoft Information Protection/AD RMS
- Conduct data discovery and risk assessments to identify and protect sensitive information across the organisation
- Monitor, investigate, and respond to DLP alerts and incidents, ensuring effective remediation and reporting
- Collaborate with security, compliance, and business teams to align controls with regulatory and governance requirements (eg GDPR, ISO)
Ideal Requirements:
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview (DLP, Information Protection, Compliance Center)
- Experience with Azure Information Protection (AIP) and/or AD RMS, including encryption, rights management, and policy enforcement
- Expertise in data classification, sensitivity labels, and policy tuning to minimise false positives
- Knowledge of the Microsoft 365 security ecosystem (Defender, Insider Risk, eDiscovery, Cloud App Security)
- Understanding of data privacy and compliance frameworks (GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001)
