Satcom Ground Segment Systems Engineer - Aerospace and Defence

The role involves working directly with customers to define requirements, shape system architecture, and support procurement and construction of ground segment infrastructure, including satellite control, network operations, gateways, teleports, and user terminals. With international exposure, regular client interaction, and travel, this position offers full ownership of system architecture, collaboration with internal teams and external clients, and strong compensation including bonus and profit-sharing. Based in Toulouse or Munich, this role is suited to an autonomous engineer confident engaging with customers and senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Define and review ground segment requirements for satellite programmes
• Design end-to-end ground segment architectures including control systems, gateways, teleports, and user terminals
• Translate customer needs into technical specifications and solutions
• Support procurement activities for new satellite and ground segment systems
• Monitor construction and deployment of ground segment infrastructure
• Act as a technical interface between customers, suppliers, and internal teams
• Deliver presentations and technical documentation to stakeholders
• Work autonomously on client-facing projects across multiple regions

Skills / Must Have:

• Strong experience in ground segment engineering or satellite systems
• End-to-end system understanding across satellite control, networks, and ground infrastructure
• Background from system integrators or primes such as Airbus, Thales, Kratos, GMV, or similar
• Strong communication and presentation skills with a consulting mindset
• Ability to work independently in client-facing environments
• Fluent English
• EU27 nationality required for project clearance

Nice to have:

• French language skills
• Experience with FlexSat or similar satellite architectures
• Background across both space and ground segment systems

Salary:

• Toulouse: €70,000 – €90,000 + bonus + profit sharing
• Munich: €100,000 – €110,000 + bonus
