Following a series of new contract wins in South Bend and across Indiana, the team is seeking a Fiber Optic Splicing Technician to support and maintain critical network infrastructure. In this vital role, the technician will splice a variety of fiber optic cables, diagnose and resolve technical faults, and carry out regular maintenance activities. Responsibilities:
- Splice various types and sizes of fiber optic cable, including single mode, multimode, stranded, and ribbon
- Perform high-count ribbon fiber splicing 288 / 432, 864, and above
- Conduct testing using: OTDR / OLTS / Power meter
- Analyze and troubleshoot basic technical problems or issues related to fiber optic infrastructure
- Review, interpret, and work with various maps, drawings, blueprints, and testing documents
- Perform daily tests, checks, and maintenance of splicing and testing equipment
- Conduct optical continuity and conformance testing to ensure network integrity
Skills/Must have:
- Working knowledge of various fusion splicing and optical testing equipment
- Familiarity with fiber optic cable types, color codes, and environments (e.g., Multi-mode, Single-mode, CAT 3, CAT 5, Riser, Plenum)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others
- Perform high-count ribbon fiber splicing 288 / 432, 864, and above
