Responsibilities:
- Lead the technical vision for a Databricks-centric platform, focusing on Delta Sharing, Unity Catalog, and custom data orchestration.
- Move beyond simple ingestion and design the "low-level" primitives, identity, compute quotas, and automated RBAC, that make the platform scalable for thousands of external users.
- Translate complex infrastructure constraints (Kubernetes, Azure/GCP, Databricks) into a seamless developer experience for our internal and external application teams.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience with a strong understanding of underlying system architectures, going beyond tool usage to distinguish between point solutions and scalable platforms.
- Hands-on experience with technologies such as Spark and Delta Lake, with the ability to position them within broader distributed system architectures.
- Highly proficient in Kubernetes, containerisation, and the networking and security layers within cloud environments such as Azure or GCP.
- Able to balance long-term architectural planning with hands-on technical problem-solving, including complex debugging alongside engineering teams.
- Experienced in leveraging AI and modern tooling to accelerate the software development lifecycle, while maintaining strong standards in architecture, security, and code quality.
- Capable of critically reviewing AI-generated code for accuracy, scalability, integration risks, and edge case handling, with a proactive and experimental mindset.
