As the OSP Construction Director, you will provide strategic leadership to a diverse team of engineers, splicers, line and ground workers, heavy equipment operators, and mechanics. Your expertise will be instrumental in shaping the future of communication infrastructure as you direct and oversee engineering and construction projects, ensuring the improvement and maintenance of outside plant facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and oversee strategic planning for engineering and construction projects, ensuring timely and precise completion.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to a dynamic team of engineers, splicers, line workers, and contractors.
  • Conduct pre-surveys of job sites to optimize resource allocation and safety provisions.
  • Efficiently manage necessary equipment and materials, including scheduling routine and emergency maintenance.
  • Implement and oversee strategic public safety precautions, conducting regular site inspections, and providing necessary training to crew members.

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of construction and engineering practices, including state and federal safety regulations.
  • Supervisory skills in managing third-party vendors and multiple construction crews across diverse locations.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with employees, leaders, executives, and government officials.
  • Familiarity with test equipment, electronic gear, and telecommunications operations and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in company products, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret and generate various documents such as work orders, purchase orders, and personnel reviews.
  • Competence in operating vehicles, construction equipment, and fiber splicing.
  • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Professional communication with coworkers and business contacts.
  • Capacity to interpret maps, staking sheets, and instruction manuals.
  • Ability to work autonomously, make informed technical decisions, and foster team morale.
