As a Field Engineer, under supervision, you will plan and prepare CAD drawings for the construction of new aerial and underground lines, cables, and conduits, as well as the removal or rearrangement of existing infrastructure. Assist in assessing service demand, existing infrastructure, and economic factors to determine construction requirements. Collaborate with customers and construction crews during project execution.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Conduct field visits to determine facility routes and construction requirements.
  • Plan and prepare drawings and staking sheets for construction projects.
  • Ensure compliance with RUS and industry specifications.
  • Organize and maintain necessary paperwork.
  • Determine equipment requirements and construction routes.
  • Prepare detailed construction drawings and estimates.
  • Obtain necessary permits.
  • Maintain accurate facility records using GIS Mapping system and management system.
  • Perform outdoor work and meet with customers as required.
  • Collaborate with other departments.
  • Promote a positive company image.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 2-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Broadband Deployment Installer/Repairer experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of CADTel and/or NISC is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of telecommunications construction and engineering practices.
  • Familiarity with right-of-way easements.
  • Experience in telephone engineering, including copper and fiber optic cable design.
  • Proficiency in cable numbering and planning.
  • Ability to operate office equipment and software.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Independent worker with sound decision-making abilities.
  • Positive attitude and team player mindset.

Salary:  

  • $45,000-$65,000
