In this role as Network Security Engineer (NSE) you will be pivotal in ensuring the integrity, resilience, and operational efficiency of our client's network security infrastructure. Responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of network security tools, the NSE plays a critical role in safeguarding proprietary data and resources from internal and external threats. 

The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in network security practices, possess strong technical acumen, and exhibit leadership qualities to drive security initiatives forward.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation, deployment, and maintenance of network security tools.
  • Design and customize policies within security tools to meet alerting and workflow requirements.
  • Manage end-point protection solutions and highly technical security appliances.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in network security, including IDS/IPS, firewalls, and DDoS mitigation techniques.
  • Conduct ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting to maximize network security infrastructure performance.
  • Investigate network security breaches or intrusions using advanced security tools and techniques.
  • Collaborate with the security team to perform tests and identify network vulnerabilities.
  • Mentor colleagues on security infrastructure implementation and information security management.
  • Determine network security requirements by evaluating business strategies and goals.
  • Liaise with our client's IT Project Management Office (PMO) on assigned projects.
  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors to complete projects or troubleshoot issues.
  • Monitor and manage Enterprise domain controllers and associated services.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years of related work experience in network security.
  • Hands-on experience with security systems such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and anti-virus software.
  • Proficiency in networking and firewalls, including Palo Alto NextGen, Cisco Meraki, Cisco ASA, and FortiGate.
  • Experience managing 15+ firewalls in an enterprise environment.
  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft suite, Azure, AWS, and SaaS solutions.
  • Knowledge of external DNS management, VLANs, DHCP, WiFi, and network segmentation.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, and Meraki Network Operator Certification preferred.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.

  • £70,000
