The organisation is seeking an ML Research Engineer to join its Innovation & Research team and help develop AI-powered security operations capabilities. This role focuses on building and evaluating AI and agentic systems, improving machine learning models and workflows, analysing performance, and researching security challenges such as adversarial attacks and offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI technologies, influence product development, and collaborate with researchers, engineers, and security specialists.

Responsibilities:
- Designing and building evaluation frameworks for AI and agentic systems
- Measuring agent performance using statistically robust methodologies
- Analysing failures and identifying opportunities for optimisation
- Experimenting with prompts, workflows and playbooks to improve outcomes
- Testing different models, including open-source and fine-tuned LLMs
- Evaluating and improving multi-agent workflows
- Researching defences against prompt injection and adversarial attacks
- Collaborating with security analysts to understand real-world use cases
- Supporting the evolution of the platform towards more advanced agentic architectures
- Communicating research findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Contributing to technical blogs, industry presentations and research publications
Skills/Must Have:
- Strong quantitative background with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Python programming experience
- Understanding of statistics and experimental design
- Experience working with data science or machine learning workflows
- Interest in LLMs, generative AI and agentic systems
- Ability to analyse data and translate findings into actionable improvements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A naturally curious mindset with a passion for research and experimentation
Desirable Skills:
- Master's degree or PhD in a relevant field
- Machine learning research experience
- Experience evaluating AI systems or LLM performance
- Familiarity with cloud environments such as GCP
- Knowledge of modern software development practices
- Experience working with open-source AI models
- Interest in cyber security, threat detection or security operations
