The organization is in search of a Chief Estimator to oversee budget and estimate creation, manage the estimating process across all bid and awarded projects, and establish standardized procedures, methods, and training for estimating resources. Key Responsibilities:
- Review project plans/specs and coordinate scope confirmation with the team
- Identify risk issues and their scale
- Solicit subcontractor and supplier pricing
- Prepare bid instructions, bid forms, and solicitation materials
- Manage quantity survey and pricing for internal budgets
- Prepare conceptual budgets from minimal information
- Review general conditions, schedules, scopes, and site logistics
- Review and scope specialty contractor bids
- Assess constructability with operational staff
- Track construction and material cost trends
- Analyze alternate means/methods for cost efficiency
- Build strong relationships with customers, design teams, contractors, suppliers, and user groups
- Participate in industry, client, and community relations
- Support Job Kick-off Meetings and project reviews
- Price change impacts as needed
Required Skills/Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED required; Bachelor's in Construction Management or Administration preferred
- 10+ years of estimating experience
- Proficiency in estimating software and MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Ability to break down construction operations into logical sequences
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Willingness to travel
- Strong work ethic, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Sharp attention to detail
