Construction Laborer - Telecommunications

Our client is a well-established telecommunications infrastructure provider delivering large-scale network construction and deployment projects across the US. With more than 30 years of industry experience, they support major broadband and telecommunications programmes from initial design and engineering through to construction, installation and ongoing network development.

We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Telecommunications Construction Laborer to support the installation of underground telecommunications infrastructure. This position will assist with the installation of microducts, conduits, telecommunications vaults, and slurry, as well as general construction and restoration activities.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working outdoors, operating hand and power tools, performing physical labor, and working around construction equipment in active work zones.

Responsibilities:

• Install telecommunications microducts and conduits using microtrenching, boring, and open-cut installation methods.
• Assist with pulling, placing, connecting, and securing conduit and microduct systems.
• Install and set telecommunications utility vaults of various sizes and configurations.
• Prepare vault locations, including excavation, grading, bedding, setting, leveling, and backfilling.
• Mix, place, and install slurry as required for trench backfill and restoration.
• Assist with trench excavation, spoils removal, backfilling, compaction, and grading.
• Operate hand tools and power tools used in underground utility construction.
• Assist equipment operators with digging, trenching, boring, and material placement.
• Measure and verify trench, conduit, and vault locations according to project requirements.
• Assist with concrete, asphalt, and surface restoration as needed.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas.
• Load, unload, move, and stage construction materials and equipment.
• Follow traffic-control requirements and work safely around vehicles and construction equipment.
• Identify existing underground utilities and follow all required utility-locate procedures.
• Follow company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and project-specific safety procedures.
• Perform other construction duties as assigned by the Foreman or Superintendent.

Skills/Must have:

• Previous telecommunications, utility, underground construction, or general construction experience preferred.
• Experience with microtrenching, conduit, microduct, vault installation, or slurry is a plus.
• Ability to read basic construction plans, drawings, and measurements preferred.
• Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and equipment.
• Must be dependable, punctual, and willing to work as part of a construction crew.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.
• OSHA, traffic-control, confined-space, or other construction certifications are a plus.
