This opportunity is for a Data Centre Operations Engineer (Cloud) to join a 24x7 operations team supporting large-scale, globally distributed cloud infrastructure. The role focuses on monitoring production environments, triaging and coordinating operational incidents, and working closely with onsite engineers, Smart Hands teams, vendors, and engineering teams to ensure the availability and reliability of mission-critical cloud platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor cloud infrastructure using enterprise monitoring platforms.
  • Respond to alarms affecting production servers, cloud infrastructure, compute, storage, and platform services.
  • Investigate infrastructure alerts, assess operational impact, and determine the appropriate escalation path.
  • Act as the first point of contact for cloud infrastructure incidents affecting live production environments.
  • Perform first-line troubleshooting across Linux operating systems, physical servers, hardware, and infrastructure services before escalating where required.
  • Coordinate with onsite engineers, Smart Hands teams, vendors, and engineering teams throughout incident resolution.
  • Perform server break/fix activities including hardware diagnostics, component replacement, server installations, and infrastructure maintenance.
  • Support rack & stack, structured cabling, fibre optic patching, and cross-connect activities within the data centre.
  • Manage incidents through to resolution, ensuring accurate documentation, timely communication, and operational updates.
  • Track incidents, infrastructure events, and maintenance activities through JIRA, ServiceNow, or similar ticketing systems.
  • Produce shift handover reports and maintain detailed operational documentation.
  • Support planned maintenance and operational changes by following SOPs, MOPs, and established operational runbooks.
  • Participate in a 24x7 rotating shift supporting mission-critical cloud infrastructure.

Requirements:

  • 1-3+ years' experience within Cloud Infrastructure Operations, Server Operations, Data Centre Operations, NOC, or mission-critical production environments.
  • Experience supporting Linux production servers and troubleshooting via the command line.
  • Hands-on experience with server hardware, server break/fix, rack & stack, and physical infrastructure support.
  • Experience working within cloud infrastructure or enterprise production environments.
  • Experience working with monitoring platforms, incident management, and ticketing systems such as JIRA, ServiceNow, or similar.
  • Experience coordinating incidents across engineering teams, Smart Hands teams, vendors, and external service providers.
  • Strong troubleshooting methodology across Linux, hardware, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience following SOPs, operational runbooks, and change management processes.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.
