The organization is currently on the lookout for a Thermal Optimization Engineer to join its subject matter expert team, working across a varied portfolio of critical room and data centre environments for clients across the UK, Europe, the US, and beyond. The ideal candidate will work daily with the company's proprietary AI optimisation platform, contributing to its ongoing development, with a clear pathway to building and leading their own team as the business grows.

Responsibilities:

  • Delivering thermal optimisation engineering across a portfolio of critical room and data centre environments
  • Working with the company's proprietary AI optimisation platform to analyse, optimise, and report on thermal performance
  • Travelling to client sites across the UK, Europe, the US, and other international locations as required
  • Contributing to the development and improvement of the company's software and optimisation methodologies
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships across a multi-project, multi-location portfolio
  • Supporting junior engineers and contributing to team growth as the business scales
  • Producing clear technical reports and documentation for client and internal use


Skills/Must Have:

  • Qualified mechanical engineer with hands-on experience in critical room air conditioning or cooling
  • Data centre background strongly preferred; candidates with a strong industrial cooling background will also be considered. Domestic HVAC backgrounds are not suitable for this role
  • Minimum 5 years of mechanical engineering experience
  • Comfortable working in a software-driven environment - the role involves daily use of a proprietary AI optimisation platform and technical comfort with software tools is essential
  • Full UK driving licence - up to 6 penalty points acceptable
  • Genuine willingness and practical ability to travel - UK trips of a couple of days, US trips up to one week, other international locations up to two weeks. This is non-negotiable


Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with the EcoSense platform (candidates with this will be prioritised immediately)
  • European base, particularly Germany (the business has large active contracts in this market)
  • Chartered engineer status (noted on the job description but not a hard requirement; strong candidates without it will be fully considered)
