Responsibilities:

  • Infrastructure & Operations
  • Troubleshoot server and network hardware including fibre optic cabling, optics, and hardware components.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of circuit move, add, change, and disconnection (MACD) requests.
  • Execute or coordinate local vendor technicians for server, circuit, and maintenance troubleshooting activities.
  • Facilitate physical installation of server and network cabling in accordance with cabling standards and matrices.
  • Perform physical server and circuit troubleshooting and fault analysis.
  • Support production environments and collaborate with vendors, system owners, and operations teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Coordinate and track operational requests and provide regular reporting updates.
  • Maintain accurate implementation and operational documentation.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support ad-hoc troubleshooting with internal and external teams.
  • Assist with regional maintenance activities during business hours when required.
  • Data Accuracy & Inventory Management
  • Support and improve infrastructure inventory database strategies, including:
  • Server inventory management
  • Circuit inventory management
  • Spares inventory management
  • Monitor spare stock levels across sites and warehouses, raising requests when thresholds are reached.
  • Coordinate site audits and remote hands support with vendors when required.
  • Update internal documentation and operational records.
  • Manage and track requests through ticketing systems such as JIRA.
  • Coordinate with supply chain teams, equipment vendors, and data centres to manage delivery schedules and maintenance windows.
  • Contribute to operational and process improvement initiatives.
  • Vendor & Colocation Support
  • Act as the primary point of contact for vendor queries relating to interconnection and troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound colocation shipments and track deliveries.
  • Maintain documentation for internet providers, circuit details, and vendor contacts.
  • Schedule onsite technicians and manage site access requests for planned and ad-hoc activities.
  • Submit and coordinate remote hands requests for physical site support.
  • Conduct regular audits of server, circuit, and spare inventory.


Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience within data centre operations, enterprise IT infrastructure, or telecommunications environments.
  • Familiarity with IT best practices (ITIL) and equipment lifecycle management processes.
  • Experience executing detailed methods of procedure (MOPs) and technical documentation.
  • Understanding of fibre optics, DWDM/CWDM technologies, network interface types, protocols, and hardware form factors.
  • Strong technical and operational troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience coordinating with field technicians, engineers, contractors, telecom providers, and colocation vendors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide effective remote technical support.
  • Basic command-line proficiency in Linux/Unix and network switch CLI environments.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.


Desirable Skills:

  • Experience leading or coordinating junior technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors within telecommunications or infrastructure environments.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to proactively identify and mitigate operational risks.
  • Excellent technical documentation and data management skills.
  • Relevant certifications such as Server+, Network+, A+, CDCTP, or CDCPM are advantageous.


Salary:

  • £60,000 per annum
