This opportunity is for a Firewall Engineer to take ownership of customer firewall environments, managing the full lifecycle from discovery and design through to deployment, optimization, and ongoing support. Working within a highly technical engineering team, the role focuses on securing smart buildings, operational technology, and connected infrastructure environments.

Responsibilities:

• Review a newly onboarded customer environment with limited documentation.
• Investigate legacy configurations, unknown firewall rules, and how systems are connected.
• Gain a clear understanding of the existing environment.
• Clean up and optimize configurations.
• Improve security across the environment.
• Create a roadmap for future improvements and ongoing management.
• Designing and deploying Fortinet firewall solutions
• Delivering firewall migrations and upgrade projects
• Reviewing policies, rules, logging, and security posture
• Improving network segmentation and access controls
• Building secure remote access solutions across VPN, ZTNA and MFA
• Working alongside other engineers across networking, infrastructure, and security
• Heading onsite when required for installations, audits, and technical discovery

Skills/Must Have:

• Strong Fortinet firewall experience
• Experience deploying and managing FortiGate environments
• Strong networking fundamentals across routing, switching, VPNs and segmentation
• Firewall implementation, migration, and troubleshooting experience
• Secure Remote Access experience across VPN, ZTNA or MFA
• Exposure to Palo Alto, Cisco, Sophos or SonicWall beneficial
• MSP, consulting, or customer facing experience highly regarded
• Enjoys solving problems independently.
• Takes ownership and follows tasks through to completion.
• Is reliable, accountable, and thrives in a smaller team environment.
• Values quality work rather than simply closing tickets.
• Collaborates effectively with other technical professionals.
• Communicates clearly with customers and explains technical decisions confidently.
• Fortinet certifications such as NSE 4+ or networking certifications like CCNP/JNCIP are highly regarded.
