The consulting firm has partnered with a major financial services organisation and is seeking an experienced GCP Engineering Lead to lead the Compute and Virtual Machine (VM) team within its GCP Data Centre Extension (DCX) platform. The role involves leading a team of engineers responsible for delivering and supporting Google Cloud compute services and core infrastructure, while shaping the platform roadmap, driving engineering best practices, and supporting the continued growth of the organisation's GCP environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of 30+ engineers.
  • Drive the strategy and roadmap for GCP Compute and VM services.
  • Support the design, delivery, and operation of cloud infrastructure solutions.
  • Promote automation, standardisation, and engineering best practices.
  • Work closely with architecture, security, and product teams.
  • Ensure platform reliability, performance, and security.


Skills/Must Have:

  • Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Good knowledge of Compute Engine and Virtual Machine environments.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, ideally Terraform.
  • Understanding of cloud networking and infrastructure services.
  • Strong stakeholder management and leadership skills.
  • Experience working within large enterprise environments.
  • GCP certifications are desirable.


Contract Details:

  • Duration: 12 months
  • Location: Bristol/Leeds/Halifax/Manchester/Edinburgh (Hybrid - 2 days on-site)
  • Start Date: ASAP
