The company is looking for a High Voltage Maintenance Engineer to help shape future data centre designs while supporting reliable operations, generating ideas, communicating recommendations to senior management, and driving implementation alongside facilities technicians. Reporting to the VP of Engineering, the role offers a hands-on opportunity to take real ownership of high voltage substation and medium voltage distribution systems, working closely with trades and technical teams across the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Support project development, attending design meetings and working collaboratively with site and corporate staff and external engineering partners
  • Review and validate drawings and technical reports from consultants, manufacturers, engineering firms and commissioning agents, acting as technical Owner's representative
  • Lead or support construction, installation and commissioning activities in the electrical space, and lead complex electrical engineering tasks through to completion
  • Monitor system operations from an electrical perspective, ensuring sites run within parameters and to the highest standard of reliability and utilization
  • Perform detailed analysis and calculations to support reliable operations, capacity planning and real-time system limitations
  • Provide second-level troubleshooting support to site staff, and coach and provide feedback on electrical matters


Skills/Must Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, with 5+ years' related experience
  • Broad experience in operations and maintenance of high voltage substations and medium voltage distribution, ideally within an electrical utility or heavy industrial setting
  • Knowledge of protection and control systems as applied to high voltage substations and apparatus, including transformers, circuit breakers and protection relays
  • Strong troubleshooting ability, with root cause analysis experience and comfortable reading electrical control diagrams and schematics
  • Willing to work hands-on alongside trades and technical staff, with flexibility to support outside normal hours for key project activities or system events
  • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder skills; self-driven and comfortable with uncertainty and limited direction
