Responsibilities:

• Ensure stable, high-availability operation of DWDM transport networks
• Monitor, analyse, and resolve faults on optical systems (2nd/3rd level)
• Lead root-cause analysis and define sustainable fixes
• Prioritise and manage incidents and changes against SLA and business needs
• Coordinate fault resolution across internal teams and external partners
• Carry out configuration changes, commissioning, and hardware/software upgrades
• Support capacity planning and network development for the optical transport layer
• Assist with physical-layer fault analysis (fibre, WDM links)
• Maintain compliance with security requirements, particularly around encryption technologies
• Document systems, processes, and changes per internal standards
• Participate in on-call rotation

Skills/Must Have:

• Completed vocational training or degree in Telecommunications, Electrical/Communications Engineering, Computer Science, or similar
• Solid, hands-on experience with DWDM technology and optical network operations (WDM, DWDM, CWDM), including physical transmission characteristics
• Experience analysing optical parameters and their impact on transmission quality
• Proven incident management experience: prioritisation, escalation processes, structured root-cause analysis
• Experience with network management and monitoring tools
• Working knowledge of IP networking and Linux
• Fluent German (written and spoken); good English (for vendor documentation)
