The organisation is looking for an RF Engineer based in London to design and optimise 2G–5G coverage across the rail estate. The role sits at the intersection of telecommunications engineering and one of the UK’s most complex operational environments, supporting reliable connectivity across the railway network.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, plan, and optimise RF networks (2G-5G) across railway infrastructure, ensuring reliable coverage along tracks, stations, and tunnels for both passenger connectivity and critical operational communications.
  • Conduct site surveys, RF audits, and interference investigations across the London rail network, working within engineering possessions and safety-critical environments.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, including telecoms operators, Network Rail engineering teams, and contractors — to deliver RF upgrades and rollouts in line with railway safety standards and project timelines.


Skills/Must Have:

  • Strong technical knowledge of RF principles and multi-generation mobile network technologies (2G, 3G, 4G, 5G), including link budgets, propagation modelling, and interference mitigation.
  • Railway industry experience, familiarity with rail safety regulations 
  • Proficiency with RF planning and measurement tools
