One of our top clients, a globally recognised European internet exchange, is hiring a Security Engineer into their Operations team to take ownership of their firewall estate, drive security optimisation and contribute directly to future security architecture across a complex distributed network.
Working alongside a talented team, you will design, implement, and optimise firewall systems that keep our network secure and performant.
You will monitor security logs, enforce security policies, and contribute to the architecture and future migrations of our security infrastructure across multiple regions.

Responsibilities:
- Manage, monitor and optimise firewall infrastructure across a global environment, including rules, configurations and security performance
- Identify and respond to threats by analysing security logs, conducting assessments, audits and vulnerability remediation
- Support the design, evolution and migration of scalable, secure firewall architecture across regions
- Maintain accurate documentation, policies and security reporting, and convert ISMS findings into actionable improvements
- Collaborate closely with internal engineering teams and external security partners to align security strategies across the organisation
Required Skills & Experience:
- 3-5+ years of experience managing and optimising firewall infrastructure in a large-scale, global network environment
- Proficient in firewall technologies and platforms such as Juniper and Palo Alto, with a deep understanding of networking and security protocols, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and threat mitigation strategies
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent professional experience; relevant certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, or Palo Alto PCNSE are highly desirable
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience working with large data sets such as firewall logs and security alerts
- Familiarity with SIEM systems (e.g. Splunk, Sentinel), vulnerability scanning tools, and incident response tooling
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and collaborative, with strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
- Understanding of compliance standards such as GDPR and ISO/IEC 27001 is a plus
- Experience with cloud security, automation tools (e.g. Ansible), and scripting languages (e.g. Python, Bash) is advantageous.
