The company is looking for a Senior Manager Mechanical Engineering to lead the mechanical discipline and act as the senior technical authority across the business, reporting directly to the VP of Engineering. The role offers end-to-end ownership of mechanical strategy, including setting standards, approving designs, and ensuring the integrity of cooling and mechanical systems across the project portfolio. Responsibilities:
- Act as mechanical engineering discipline lead and technical authority for mechanical systems and cooling equipment, and their integration across all projects
- Manage a team of senior, intermediate and junior mechanical engineers, directly or functionally
- Establish and maintain mechanical engineering standards, design criteria and technical specifications, and provide final review and approval of designs and deliverables
- Oversee design and validation of mechanical systems for custom-manufactured equipment, including central cooling plants, fire protection, site water distribution and re-fuelling facilities
- Coordinate the mechanical discipline with civil, architectural, structural, electrical and piping teams, and act as the primary mechanical interface with manufacturing, QA/QC, project management and external stakeholders, including customers
- Identify technical risks in mechanical systems and provide mitigation strategies and executive-level recommendations to senior leadership
Skills/Must Have:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's preferred)
- P.Eng. registration in Texas (Oklahoma registration an asset)
- 10+ years' progressive experience in mechanical water conveyance and cooling systems within industrial, mission-critical and hyperscale data center environments
- Proven track record as mechanical discipline lead or senior technical authority on complex projects
- In-depth knowledge of ASHRAE, IMC, IBC, NFPA and other applicable mechanical codes and standards
- Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills; data center or mission-critical facilities experience highly desirable
