Ready to take the next step in your career?

Join a privately-backed, fast-scaling data centre developer with live and pipeline projects across the UK, Germany, France, Ireland, Luxembourg, and Italy. With dozens of projects in construction or development globally, they are entering an exciting phase of EMEA growth and are looking for a Technical Director to take ownership of construction quality and technical delivery across the region.

This is an owner-side position, not a contractor or consultancy role. The successful candidate will act as the client's technical authority throughout construction, working across multiple live and upcoming sites concurrently.

If you would like to learn more about this opportunity, feel free to reach out and apply today!

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the technical authority during construction, leading reviews of design deliverables, RFIs, and submittals to ensure delivery matches the approved Basis of Design and contractual requirements.
  • Own QA/QC frameworks across civil, structural, architectural, and MEP/controls systems, driving early risk identification and root cause analysis on non-conformances.
  • Provide deep technical oversight of mission-critical MEP systems (power, cooling, life safety, BMS), ensuring proper integration to hit resiliency and redundancy targets.
  • Serve as the primary technical interface with designers, general contractors, trade contractors, and AHJs, supporting project directors on key technical decisions and escalations.
  • Own technical readiness for Levels 1–5 commissioning, IST, and final acceptance, ensuring as-built documentation and O&M data meet company standards for handover.
  • Drive standardisation, value engineering, and continuous improvement across the EMEA construction portfolio.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Full RIBA Stage 1–7 design experience on data centre projects, from design through commissioning and handover.
  • A background on the general contractor or developer side (not straight from a consultancy).
  • A relevant engineering degree, with a preference for electrical (mechanical or building services also considered).
  • Comfortable with extensive regional travel (up to 70%).

Nice to Have:

  • Developer-side experience, ideally gained at a competitor hyperscale or colocation developer.
  • Chartered status, PMP, or Authorised Person (AP) certification.
  • A strong electrical design background.

Benefits:

  • Be part of a small, agile, highly autonomous team rather than a large corporate structure.
    • Control over design stages and project direction.
  • Backed by significant private investment from the founder's family office, giving the business stability and independence from external investor pressure.
  • A genuine growth story: one of the fastest-growing developers globally, with a strong and expanding project pipeline across EMEA.
  • Strong benefits package including enhanced pension contributions and family health, dental, and eye cover.

Salary:

  • United Kingdom: £170,000 + 20% bonus (Senior profile: Up to £200,000 + 25% bonus)
  • Europe: €200,000 (Senior profile: Up to €230,000)
