This is a rare opportunity to join the core optical R&D team of a global leader in high-speed connectivity, contributing to the design of next-generation integrated photonic components. The successful candidate will take ownership of the full development lifecycle, from optical modelling and design through to prototype validation and production transfer, while collaborating closely with modem, RF, and chip design teams to develop innovative optical networking technologies. Responsibilities:

  • Design innovative photonic component architectures based on deep understanding of high-speed integrated photonic systems
  • Define functional specifications in collaboration with modem, RF, and chip design teams
  • Plan and execute design of experiments to validate critical design parameters and optimise component performance
  • Perform design validation testing (DVT) on prototypes and final products, reporting results to internal stakeholders
  • Monitor, document, and communicate design progress; proactively identify risks to functionality, timelines, or performance targets
  • Lead and participate in design reviews with thorough documentation and follow-through
  • Transfer completed designs into production in collaboration with NPI and operations teams


Skills/Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline with a minimum of 4 years of experience in a technology-oriented product development environment
  • Hands-on experience with high-speed integrated photonic components — design, not just characterisation
  • Proficiency in optical modeling and simulation tools (e.g. Lumerical)
  • Experience with photonic component measurement and characterisation
  • Strong DoE planning and experimental analysis skills
  • Organised, rigorous, and comfortable managing multiple workstreams in a deadline-driven environment
  • Clear, proactive, solutions-oriented communicator
