Our client is now seeking a Wireless Field & Tower Technician to help build, maintain and support point-to-point microwave networks underpinning mission-critical operations.

This is a hands-on, field-based position combining approximately 80% ground-based engineering with 20% tower climbing. The successful candidate will work across towers, rooftops and communications sites, resolving technical issues and ensuring essential wireless infrastructure continues to perform reliably.

Initially offered as a six-month contract, the role provides a clear pathway to permanent employment alongside ongoing technical training, climbing certifications and long-term career development.

Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, maintain and upgrade microwave and wireless network infrastructure.
  • Respond to outages and troubleshoot network, RF and hardware issues.
  • Complete engineering work on towers, rooftops and other communications structures.
  • Support new network builds and upgrades to existing sites.
  • Install equipment and complete fibre termination, cabling and associated site work.
  • Act as the on-site technical contact for subcontractors and other delivery partners.
  • Produce clear daily reports detailing completed work, site activity and any issues encountered.
  • Participate in ongoing technical training and certification programmes.
  • Travel to local and regional sites, including occasional overnight stays.

Skills and experience required

  • Two to three years of experience within wireless, microwave or related network infrastructure.
  • Proven experience working in a field engineering position.
  • At least two years of tower climbing experience.
  • Current Authorised Climber and Rescue certification.
  • Experience installing and commissioning network or communications equipment.
  • Confidence working safely at height and in changing field environments.
  • A dependable approach, strong work ethic and willingness to continue learning.
  • A valid US driver’s licence and passport.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 70% of the time.

Desirable experience

  • OSHA 10 certification.
  • Fibre splicing, termination or structured cabling experience.
  • Knowledge of RF, microwave or millimetre-wave technologies.
  • Experience using spectrum analysers or similar testing equipment.

Package

  • $35 to $45 per hour.
